In an unusual twist 33 year old Amy Beck decided to turn herself into local Burbank police. She said that her “conscience” was getting to her, and that she needed to get this off her chest as soon as possible.
In the aftermath of a two hour ordeal at the police station, the local detectives then visited the home of the fourteen year old she had sex with, and he confirmed the story.
Amy Beck was finally arrested and is now being held in a temporary jail until a hearing later this week. If found guilty by the judge she will be sentenced to up to seven years of jail time.
Unusually, this teacher is actually quite normal. She’s got a husband and two children and to be honest is pretty damn good looking too. This leads us to the real question, why did she do this?

Yes, their early singles on the tiny Postcard label generated some excitement, and they had a bona fide chart hit with the 1983? s single “Rip It Up,” but their career had mostly come to a sputtering halt outside the lens of the public eye. One short year later, with the rise of C-86 and the early indie pop bands, the brightly scrappy attitude and scruffily melodic sound of early Orange Juice suddenly became popular again. Fast forward to the mid-’90s and Belle & Sebastian, then Franz Ferdinand and more, to see that the Orange Juice legacy lives on as strongly as ever. The songs of Edwyn Collins (and those of James Kirk) have been required listening for a large number of great pop bands. Thanks to the release of 2005? s The Glasgow School, which made all the band? s early recordings widely available for the first time, even more bands were able to draw inspiration from the band and their sound. In 2010, all the band? s recorded output was finally made easily accessible.Put together in part by Edwyn Collins, the box set ? Coals to Newcastle is beautiful to look at, wonderful to listen to, and basically a dream come true for Orange Juice fans who weren? t able to get a hold of the original albums or the Japanese CD reissues. Even if you did own either of those, Coals is still worth seeking out for all the extras. The six-CD/one-DVD set contains all of the band? s recorded output: the early singles, the three studio albums, the Texas Fever EP, a full complement of B-sides, a handful of demos and different mixes, a disc of BBC sessions, two videos, live footage from the Old Grey Whistle Test, and a very ’80s concert video (Dada with the Juice) that the final incarnation of the band made. 1966 World Tour: The Home Movies $14.99 Director Joel Gilbert works with drummer Mickey Jones to issue a behind-the-scenes documentary of the 1966 Bob Dylan and the Band tour, as well as an inadvertent companion piece to Martin Scorsese’s No Direction Home film. Well, if not a companion piece, a parallel point of view. Even filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker took some of the 8mm footage when Jones was busy working with his musician hat on, and this documentary is an impressive collection of these clips, a 1966 version of a “webcam” with tons of commentary by the man who was there and visually documented the tour. There are some great interviews with Johnny Rivers, Trini Lopez and Charlie Daniels, and ’60s footage of the Beatles, Johnny Rivers, Chuck Berry and Trini Lopez. The music is provided by Highway 61 Revisited, not Bob Dylan, but you didn’t come to hear the music. It’s just part of the background setting for the information, which is textbook valuable, and — just as important — fun to listen to and watch. The disclaimer “Not affiliated with Bob Dylan” on the back of this package refers to the business side of things, this is certainly a “Dylan” release, at least as far as those who need to know everything about their hero are concerned. American Folk Blues Festivals 1963-1966: The British Tours [DVD] $15.99 Like the previous three volumes of this superb series, American Folk Blues Festivals 1963-1966: The British Tours presents about 75 minutes of mid-’60s European television performances by blues legends. The only real difference is that all of these were filmed in England (hence the subtitle “The British Tours 1963-1966″), where appreciation of the blues was really taking off and, of course, making a big impression on the U.K. pop scene via artists like the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton. While the word “legends” is thrown around a lot in reviewing vintage blues compilations, this is one instance where it’s not overhyping the case. Every single performer here is legendary. Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Sonny Boy Williamson were Chicago blues giants,; the more rural and rawer side of the form is caught by Lightnin’ Hopkins and Big Joe Williams; R&B is represented by Big Joe Turner, and soul by Sugar Pie DeSanto; and the blues’ roots in jazz and gospel are captured by Lonnie Johnson and Sister Rosetta Tharpe respectively. Every single performer here is caught, in well-preserved black-and-white footage, at or near the peak of his or her form, sometimes with some of their very most famous songs, whether it’s Waters doing “Got My Mojo Working,” Williams playing “Baby Please Don’t Go,” or Williamson singing “Bye Bye Bird.” That’s not even mentioning the top talents that can be seen as accompanists at various points, including bassist Willie Dixon, guitarists Hubert Sumlin and Otis Rush, and pianists Sunnyland Slim and Otis Spann. As for the most unusual and colorful performances, perhaps Williamson wins on that account — though not by much — by playing one end of a harmonica without holding it, as if he’s chewing a cigar. Also novel is Junior Wells’ 1966 performance of Ray Charles’ “What’d I Say,” delivered (and danced through) in modified James Brown fashion; it might not be the song you most associate with classic blues (or even Wells’ blues), but it’… |

An Anthology of Noise & Electronic Music, Vol. 2 $22.98 The first volume of this series stirred up some controversy, but the second installment, by remaining true to the same direction, strengthens compiler Guy Marc Hinant’s position. Now listeners have a wider angle and can see how inclusive the aim of the series is and how these CDs should be approached the same way one approaches a radio program that has been carefully put together. Eclecticism and innovation are the key words to understand this incredibly varied list of artists. Disc one focuses more on the academic side of electronic music, although many names, like Luc Ferrari, Tod Dockstader, Daphne Oram, and Johanna M. Beyer are academic mavericks at the very least. A short tape piece by Vladimir Ussachevsky and Otto Luening introduces a generous segment of pre-’70s music. Beyer’s “Music of the Spheres,” composed in 1938 for electric instruments, is the find of the whole set. Slipped among these tracks are brand new pieces by Dockstader and Scanner. Disc two turns to the techno and noise scenes, starting with Autechre and two cuts from the Bass Drop Network label. A delicate drone piece by David Lee Myers (aka Arcane Device) introduces a noise segment featuring Laibach (an early piece from 1982) and SPK. Percy Grainger’s short “Free Music No. 1″ (for four theremins) leads to two bands that used to make a lot of noise on stage: Sun Ra & the Arkestra (a track from Nothing Is…, 1965) and Captain Beefheart. The latter is an excerpt from a live performance at the Amougies Festival (Belgium) in 1969 and is presented in audio format on the CD and as video footage on an enhanced portion of the disc.
